2008 Annual Club Banquet A Great Success!
On January 22rd the club hosted our 4th Annual
Fundraiser and Banquet. If you didn’t attend this year’s
annual banquet you sure missed a great time. Over 200
guests, members and family attended the dinner. The club
had a number of dignitaries attend the dinner as well.
Joining the festivities Tuesday night were State Senator
Dave Cox, Assemblymen Ted Gaines, Superior Court Judge
Doug Phimister, EID Directors Bill George and George
Osborne, County Supervisor Jack Sweeney, and El Dorado
County Sheriff Jeff Neves and retired sheriff Dick
Pacileo. A big thank you all of our dignitaries for
taking the time to support our club and coming out on a
cold and raining evening, it means a lot to us to have
your support.
The event was held at the Cold
Springs Country Club in Placerville and what a great
location to hold our dinner. We plan on holding our
banquet there again next year.
“Just wanted to tell you how great the banquet was -
honestly, Rob, it was the best - the food was the
best of any group event I've been to in many many
years, the facility was wonderful and parking was so
easy - you guys did a super job - Thanks! –
Marchelle.”

San Francisco Gun Ban Struck Down!
CRPA/NRA Effort Helps Bring Big Wins in Court of Appeal
Fullerton, CA - In a unanimous (3-0) decision today, the
California State Court of Appeal in San Francisco
stopped an attempt by the City to adopt the most
restrictive gun ban in the country. The Court ruled that
a San Francisco ordinance that would have banned city
residents from possessing handguns and would have
outlawed the sale of all guns and all ammunition was
preempted by state law. "When it comes to regulating
firearms, local governments are well advised to tread
lightly," the Court ruled.
The ruling
invalidating the ordinance followed a legal challenge to
the ordinance brought by attorneys for the National
Rifle Association (NRA).
"The Court's ruling is
a big win for the law-abiding gun owners in San
Francisco and California," said civil rights lawyer
Chuck Michel, CRPA's Counsel for litigation and Local
Affairs, who represented the NRA in the lawsuit.

As most of you know our ranges are run by volunteer
range safety officers. We are fortunate to have a very
dedicated group of members willing to spend their time
running the facility. Next time you’re out at the range
make sure to thank the RSO for their dedication and hard
work.
In 2008 we will see a few changes to the
range calendar. The most visible change will be to the
rifle / pistol range on Mondays. In our continuing
effort to support Law Enforcement we have agreed to
share the lower range with EDSO on two Mondays a month.
This means that Law Enforcement will have exclusive use
of the lower range (rifle/pistol range) on the 1st and
3rd Mondays of each month and the club will have
exclusive use of the lower range on the 2nd, 4th and the
few 5th Mondays.
Make sure to check the club
calendar before you travel to the range to make sure
that it will be available for you to use when you arrive
there.

Please save those pellet stove plastic bags for
raking up spent cartridges and shot shells at
PLINK areas, and Gun Club shooting ranges.
They fit perfectly in 5 gallon paint buckets,
and are easier to lift than big black trash bags
that usually burst open.
Just
leave them at the range, or email
NRAPLINK@COMCAST.NET FOR PICK UP.
