President’s Report:

From everything I have been receiving in my email since President Obama has taken office the end of the world as we know it with regards to our firearms rights has come. I am more than aware that his stance isn’t going to be pro-firearms even though as he stumped through the rural states during the campaign he stated that “I won't take away your guns." Yeah right!

It sure didn't take long for President Obama to reveal his true intentions. The afternoon of the inauguration, the White House Web site's Urban Policy page admitted that he is indeed going to try and do exactly that.

Here is the quote from the White House Web Page;

“Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.”

Gun show loophole? There isn’t such a thing. All dealers at gun shows have to follow state and federal laws, PERIOD! Then he talks about making guns “childproof” there just isn’t any technology that would make guns “childproof” and not also make them adult proof too. Of course Law Enforcement is exempt.

Also he wants to make the “Assault Weapons Ban” permanent. This poorly written law is just an attempt to take away guns from honest law abiding citizens. It is not a way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals since convicted criminals can’t legally possess a gun or ammunition anyway.

How do you feel about your medical records becoming a public record and a reason for you to be denied ownership of your currently lawfully owned firearms? Yes this is one of the proposals too.

Let’s see, Biden, Clinton, Holder, yep all antigun advocates and all in the administration.

Enforce the laws that we already have, don’t accept more legislation imposed on the back of honest gun owners, and don’t compromise with your second amendment rights.

Just my opinion, Rob Charny

Arnold Jones
It is with great sadness that I let you know our past El Dorado Rod & Gun Club President and club member number “1” has passed. Arnold Jones passed away two weeks ago and will be greatly missed.

Arnold played a big part in making sure we had a range in the mid 1970’s after being asked to leave the small range site the club had in Coloma. It is because of Arnold that we have our current location.

Arnold was a tireless supporter of the club, avid shooter and supporter of our rights to own firearms.

We’ll miss you Arnold!

As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Why Membership is so Important:

This is mainly a letter to those who have yet to renew as well as a message for current members to encourage others to join and help support a cause, not just a “club”. For current members I’m just “preaching to the choir”! However, please use your voice to spread the word! In order to grow we need members, both young, old and in between. Help us raise the community awareness of the importance of our rights, and passing that message along to the generations that follow. Think about the difference from when you grew up and how you were taught how to handle guns in a safe and respectful manner. Think about it and then look at where we are today. It is not that we don’t teach it correctly, it is more that society has changed the idea of its necessity. It is part of our heritage to be passed on and never allowed to be cast aside. If we don’t encourage others to join and share our knowledge, what will be learned in its place?

Thank you to everyone who has helped to pass on this tradition and that continue to do so.

If you haven’t had time due to busy schedules, please find the time and mentor a friend or family member. Remember that some of us older folk can use a little mentoring as well, even if we won’t admit it!! Think about those around you that could benefit from your experience or the experience of another. If it’s because of lack of funds, the cost of freedom is priceless. It doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun! Besides, regardless of cost, when was the last time you didn’t have fun at the range? My worst day at the range was still better than any at work! OK, I kind of stole that, but you get the idea. Do we always shoot as well as we want? No, but that is all the more reason to come back! It is not the fault of the range when we don’t shoot our best; it is our fault for not using the range enough!!

What can I do you ask? Did I hear someone say that! Well:
Make it a point when you’re at the range to encourage non-members to join.
When in a discussion with another responsible gun owner, invite them to join. Inform people of our website for more information on the benefits of membership.
Whether for sport or protection, everyone is responsible to be the best they can be. Practice, Practice, Practice! And we have the Location, Location, Location!!

Please remember to personally thank the Range Master for their time, because it is their time they could devote to something else. However, let’s be thankful they are willing to spend it on a bunch like us!!

If you have any comments about this article, ideas to address in future articles or anything else regarding membership growth, please email me: jim@4sdr.com

Thanks for your time,
Jim De Piazzy
