As most of you know our ranges are run by volunteer range safety officers.
We are fortunate to have a very dedicated group of members willing to spend
their time running the facility. Next time you’re out at the range make sure
to thank the RSO for their dedication and hard work.

President’s
Report:
Attention all RSO (Range Safety Officers),
Club Directors and Officers.
On Monday April 20, 2009, 5:30 PM, at the club house we are
holding our Board of Directors and RSO meeting and it is essential that you
attend. We will be going over general club business and range operations. We
will also have a BBQ dinner so that no one goes hungry during this meeting
and gives us some time to socialize. It is very important that you attend
this meeting. Those RSO who do not attend jeopardize their authorization to
continue as Range Safety Officers. If you cannot attend this meeting please
let me know by sending me an eMail (president@eldoradorodandgun.com),
or phone call (530-621-1509). If you do not show up at the
meeting, call or send an eMail I will assume that you no longer wish to be
an RSO and will be removed from the list of active Range Safety Officers!
Here is a partial list of California
legislation that we need to support: Always check
The NRA Members' Councils of California web page for up-to-date informaion.
http://www.calnra.com/legs.shtml
AB 357: Concealed firearms License – “Shall Issue” Would
create a "shall issue" CCW permit system in California.
Existing law authorizes the sheriff of a county, upon proof that the person
applying is of good moral character, that good cause exists, and that the
person applying satisfies any one of certain conditions, as specified, to
issue a license for the person to carry a concealed handgun, as specified.
This bill would delete the good cause requirement, and require the sheriff
to issue the license if the other criteria described above are met.
AB 1167: – CCW Reciprocity - The bill would direct the
Department of Justice to enter into reciprocity agreements with other states
so that persons licensed in this state to carry concealed or loaded firearms
would be authorized to do so in those other states.
AB 225: – Concealed Firearms License – “Good Cause” - This bill
would define "Good Cause" in relation to the issuance of CCW permits in
California.
Existing law authorizes the issuance, by the sheriff of a county, of a
license to carry a concealed handgun or a loaded and exposed handgun, as
specified. This bill is a "spot bill", meaning the details of its final
language are still under development and will replace the current language
when complete.
Frankly there is just so much firearms news to keep you updated with we
just can’t list it here, there is only so much room in this newsletter. All
I can encourage you to do is keep yourself in the loop and let’s keep the
pressure on our legislators.
Enforce the laws that we already have, don’t
accept more legislation imposed on the back of honest gun owners, and don’t
compromise with your second amendment rights.
Just my opinion, Rob
Charny

Quote:
‘‘Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither
inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the
assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to
prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence
than an armed man.’’

Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

Despite the economic conditions, I’m quite
encouraged by the number of renewals and new memberships we have received
since the start of the year. Renewing members; THANK YOU for your continued
support, you are our life-blood. A big, hearty, WELCOME to all of our new
members! Enjoy what the club has to offer and help us grow bigger and
better. Let’s keep it growing. We have big plans for the future and only you
can help us get there.
Now the Challenge! If we all just put in a
little effort we can dramatically increase membership and reach new goals. Let’s
all commit to bring in at least one new member, ASAP, this year. To appeal to
everyone’s competitive nature, we are working on some type of award or awards,
for the member that brings in the most new members. Possibly the RSO that brings
in the most new members. Even a random award for a member that sponsors one or
more new members. Hey, we may get a little crazy if we are real successful and
do all of the above! Yes, there should be extra credit for the sponsor of new 5
year and life sign-ups!
We need to grow as a club and encourage
parents to teach safety and pass on the knowledge or it will die with us.
What better way to keep our youth on the right track is there than the
safety and camaraderie they gain by participating in a common interest.
Youth is our future let’s make sure they have something to pass on to their
children.
OK, the HUNT is on….. now… Who Will Get The
Trophy!!!!
Thanks for your time, Jim De Piazzy

Shoots of note for April 2009.
Notice to all Wimpy's Wobbles Trap
shooters. We have canceled all of our 2009 shoot dates.
The trap range received our annual shipment of targets and a BIG thank you
to all of the volunteers who helped get them into our conex container. Thank
you goes to: Larry Ward, Larry Carsten, Bill Pease & his cousin Wayne, Dave
Shull, Doug Becker, Marty Devries, Dave Philips, Ray Baumgardner, Jake
Erlich and Bob Howard. They loaded 1,512 cases of targets into the
container. So if you're counting that's 204,120 targets!
Kids Fundraiser had a
great turnout!
From Deanna Jones, Director of
Placerville Preschool.
Rob,
Just a note of thanks for the accommodations yesterday. I think there were
many people surprised by the turnout but all the participants I talked with
had a great time in spite of the weather. We'll plan another event so keep
us in mind when you start scheduling. We earned enough to buy sand, bark and
gravel for the playground and a couple of trikes too!
Our thanks to everyone who stayed in the rain to
help and to you for the arrangements!

I do not know why we can not
attract any Babes, but Mrs. Dunn sent her home made six bean chili, and Mrs.
Bush sent two big bags of her best cookies. I brought the milk but not
enough water. I am beat, but since I manipulated some left over cookies I
will be OK.
