EDRGC LogoPresident’s Report

We are in the heat of the summer and there is a lot going on at the club. You will notice that this is a two month newsletter, July and August. I’m going to be out of state most of the month of July so I won’t be able to product a newsletter for August, so here you have it, two months in one!

Picnic
The most important event coming up will be our club picnic.

Sunday August 9, 2009 held at High Hill Ranch in Camino. Please start arriving around noon, we eat at 1pm and the fun goes to 4pm. The price for the lunch is just $8.00 for adults, 4.00 for children, collected at the picnic.

Our main prize this year is our Second Amendment Gun, a Springfield Armory 1911- A1.  Tickets for the raffle are available from all officers and directors of the club. Also from Letty at the Mountain Democrat, Monday – Friday between 10am and 3pm, you can reach her at 530-409-3006.
1911-A1You need not be present to win. Main prize tickets are $5.00 each, so buy as many as you can to help support the club. Tickets will be available to purchase at the picnic too. We have many other great prizes that we will be raffling off at the picnic so be sure to attend.

If you are planning on attending the picnic we are asking people with last names beginning with A through K to please bring a dessert. People with last names beginning with L through Z please bring a salad.

The annual picnic is one of two main fund raisers for the club, the other being our Annual Banquet Dinner. I can’t stress enough how important it to have your support at these events. We have many great plans for our range and without these fund raisers we can’t move forward and make the improvements that we all would like to see at the range. So please support our club buying tickets for the main prize and by attending the picnic and enjoying the company of others who support the cause that you find important, the El Dorado Rod & Gun Club.

Hope to see you August 9, at High Hill Ranch for an enjoyable time. For more information go to our web site @ www.eldoradorodandgun.com.

California legislation: Always check The NRA Members' Councils of California web page for up-to-date informaion. http://www.calnra.com/legs.shtml

Enforce the laws that we already have, don’t accept more legislation imposed on the back of honest gun owners, and don’t compromise with your second amendment rights.
Just my opinion, Rob Charny

Membership:
Welcome to all of our new members. We really appreciate your support and hope you will take advantage of all we have to offer.

Well summer is here and we hope you are able to spend some well deserved time with your family and friends. Don’t forget to make the range part of your quality time with them. Even with the price of ammunition these days it is still cheaper than a day at an amusement park. Really what would you rather do……….Amusement Park or Range??
OK, well do both and everyone is happy! Take some time out to pass on your safe gun handling skills to those who can benefit from it. Make your membership count and help us all by making a difference.

Through your support we can and will grow to be even better. Please share your experiences and be on the lookout for new members. It is amazing how many people do not know we are here or just forgot over the years! Remember to have them put your name on as a sponsor.

Cost of membership vs. cost of freedom, return on investment is priceless!

For questions, comments or input email me: jim@4sdr.com

Without membership support we would just be targets!

Thank you for your time and efforts,

Jim DePiazzy - Membership Chairman

Kirby Root has been running the rifle or pistol range on every Thursday for over 10 years. With the upcoming availability of Wednesdays he is making some changes.  Effective August, he is going to run the pistol range on the first Wednesday and the rifle range on the third Wednesday. He will be the RSO for two events per month instead of four, which will free up some time for him to practice more seriously for his cowboy shooting. He would no longer run any ranges on Thursdays.

So thank you Kirby for all your hard work and thank you for your continued support.  We need RSO’s. If you’re interested in running the range and helping out the El Dorado Rod & Gun Club please contact Rob Charny.

P.L.I.N.K.
This is what Doug Becker and Jake Ehrlich cleaned up off of Plum Creek Road.  Rick Ferdon got an even taller load of  illegal dumping.  Pat Couch, Ray Engler, Mike McKeand, assisted by Ed Dunn, Gary Heitmeyer, Randy and Dane Kolbo, and myself hauled smaller loads to the dump.

Meanwhile down behind Pacific House at the blown up Blair Bridge Site it took Phil Weidman and Douglas Riccarelli in their rock crawlers with Dick Maynard, and Gregg Plourde, and Mac Mc Farland to four wheel giant loads up the grade to overflow a trailer that Becker built. They found another illegal dump requiring AWD's that we will do later.

At the same time Stan Cartwright & Marian Garric led Bob & Norma Peterson, Mearle Thompson, and Greg & Tim Carlson off to clean up Blue Gouge Mill Site shooting area.

Cathy Morgan did some independent scouting.  I stole her lunch.

This was too confusing but rewarding.  I should have better separated the convoys and sent more help into Blue Gouge, etc. So far our dump receipts total $186.65  Phil's load got in free with recyclables. Peterson donated his voucher saving $ 25.73 You all should be very proud of yourselves.

Maybe our next Please Leave It NRA Klean Sunday July 19 will give you some places for target practice.

THANK YOU !

So if you need to get out of the house and want to bring your laptop to do some work you can come out to the trap range and enjoy high speed internet access.
