President’s Report
I want to thank each and every one of you for your support
of the El Dorado Rod & Gun Club. It is because of your support that we are
able to provide to members, the public and law enforcement a safe and
controlled place to shoot. 2009 has been
and continues to be a very active year for the club with many shoots bringing many
shooters from all over the state to shoot at our facility. Again, thank you to
all the Range Officers for running the shoots and making our club a safe and accident
free range.
The Board of Director has once again addressed the issue of
the expense to produce the printed and mailed newsletter every month. In order
to keep costs down so that we can best use our funds for the operation and maintenance
of our facility we have decided to reduce the USPS mailed newsletter to only
once a quarter but still produce an eNews every month. From this month going forward
the paper newsletter will only go out in December, April, July and October. Please encourage everyone to sign up for our
eNews by going to our web site and sign up.
AND THE NOMINATION GOES TOO?
Would you like to be an officer or director of the El
Dorado Rod & Gun Club?
Nominations will open in October for the upcoming
election in December.
Anyone wishing to run may write up a 75 word statement
that will be published in the next 2 newsletters.
Notice of General Meeting:
The general meeting of the El Dorado Rod & Gun Club will be held on Monday October 5, 2009 (7 pm) At the Placerville Senior Center. 937 Spring Street, Placerville, CA 95667 Map to Senior Center:
Annual Banquet!
Our annual banquet date has been set. Tuesday January 26, 2010. Please mark the date down on your calendar. We will be providing more information next month. Also if you have any prize donations please let me know. This is our major fund raiser and most important event of the year.
California legislation: Always check The NRA Members' Councils of California web page for up-to-date information. http://www.calnra.com/legs.shtml
Placerville Preschool Fund Raiser:
Don't forget to support the fund raiser for the Placerville Pre Schoolers on Sunday October 4, 2009 at the trap range. The club helps support our community by hosting a meat/prize shoot at the trap range.
Fall Back November 1st!
On Sunday, November 1 (the first Sunday in November) at 2 a.m., Daylight Saving Time ends in the United States. This is the second year that Daylight Saving Time is four weeks longer due to the passage of the Energy Policy Act in 2005. The Act, which extends Daylight Saving Time by four weeks from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, is expected to save 10,000 barrels of oil each day through reduced use of power by businesses during daylight hours.
Enforce the laws that we already have, don’t accept more legislation imposed on the back of honest gun owners, and don’t compromise with your second amendment rights.
Just my opinion, Rob Charny

Membership
Welcome to all of our new and returning members. We really
appreciate your support and hope you will take advantage of all we have to
offer.
As if we didn’t have enough to offer to entice new members
check this out! We are now accepting applications for 2010. This means a new
member gets the balance of year 2009 added onto their membership at no
additional cost. With an offer like this you have nothing to lose but another
day at the range!
This is also a good time to figure out who is deserving of a
membership for Christmas. And it is always a great gift for any occasion.
I am happy to report that membership is up about 20% over
this time last year. This is impressive given the state of the economy, the
high cost of ammunition etc. On the other hand we also know it is likely a
result of the times. It seems everyday we learn of another bill being
introduced that aims to further erode our rights. Thankfully many of you are
voicing your opinions and letting our representatives know we are not going to
stand for them playing politics with our rights any longer. We must keep voicing
our opinions, not just to maintain what rights we have left but to regain those
we have lost. Regarding current and new bills please tell everyone you know who
supports our rights and still believes in the Constitution to call, write or
email their representatives and be heard.
For questions, comments or input email me: jim@4sdr.com
Thank you for your time and
efforts,
Jim DePiazzy

REMINDER!
The El Dorado Rod & Gun Club has always been proud to
help support our youth. Rifle or Pistol
Range fees for under age
18 are only $2. (except Defensive Pistol). Today’s youth is our future and it
is our responsibility to share our sport, pass on the traditions this great
country was founded on and keep them safe in the process. Where would we be
today if our parents had not taught us? Probably not reading a newsletter from
a Gun Club!!
One of our sponsors Cal.net has provided the club with wireless internet access. So we now have a Wi-Fi hotspot available at the trap range. So if you need to get out of the house and want to bring your laptop to do some work you can come out to the trap range and enjoy high speed internet access.
Sam and Terry Klaczko (The Buckstop) will be hosting the following gun shows during the remainder of 2009:
Placerville Fairgrounds - October 10-11
Angels Camp - November 21-22
Woodland - December 5-6
Please mark your calendar...
Join the NRA here and help the club.
Are you an NRA member? Would you like to join or renew and help the club at the same time? Click here and go to the NRA online signup site. Every time you join or renew the club gets a small donation from the NRA and every little bit helps the club. You also help support the organization that supports our firearm rights, the NRA.
Notice to all Range Safety Officers:
Please remember to carry membership applications with you. Remember if you get a new member to allow them to shoot at no-fee for the day.
Please print out the current month’s calendar and post at the pistol / rifle ranges. This is very helpful to shooters to have a calendar available at the range. Also remember that the calendar and newsletter are always available on our web site: www.eldoradorodandgun.com
We are asking for contractors to bid on painting pistol & rifle benches, sheds, and five shipping containers, especially the rusting roofs.
This is beyond what we can expect of any volunteer work party.
Just a reminder that you are subscribed to the El Dorado Rod & Gun Club eNewsletter. We hope that you find this newsletter informational and are enjoying the enhancements that we have made. These enhancements allows us to track delivery of our newsletters, better handle bounced email, allow online newsletter subscribe, unsubscribe, forward and profile update.
