Independence Day
Four days after the first the Declaration of
Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, it was read in
Philadelphia
’s
Independence Square
to the
accompaniment of bell-ringing and band music. The following year, the
celebration on July 4 added bonfires and fireworks. The custom spread to
other towns and expanded to include parades, picnics, and military
displays. In 1941, Congress declared July 4th a federal legal holiday.

Next Wobbles Trap Shoot: August 12, 2007
It’s
that time of year again;
In order to keep the roads in good condition we need to enforce the speed
limit of 10mph throughout the entire range facility. Not only do we
need to keep our speed down to maintain the road in good condition we need
to keep the dust down as well. There isn’t any reason that you have to be
in such a hurry, so please slow down.

of us have green garbage carts bigger than we can usually fill, how about
occasionally grabbing one of the black plastic bags full of trash from our
range activities, and taking it home with you ?

calendars!

annual Picnic at High Hill Ranch - Sunday August 5, at High Hill Ranch in
Camino. Please start arriving around noon, we eat at 1pm and the fun goes
to 4pm. The price for the lunch is just $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for
children, collected at the picnic.
We have two main prizes for
this year’s picnic. A Savage Arms 116FSS Weather Warrior Series with
AccuTrigger™ rifle in your choice of caliber and a Tom Tom Go auto GPS.
You need not be present to win the main raffle prizes. Tickets for the
raffle are available from all officers and directors of the club. Also from
Letty at the Mountain Democrat, Monday - Wednesday - Friday between 10am
and 3pm and you can reach her at 530-344-5049 and from Larry Ward at Wards
Automotive in Diamond Springs.
All prize Tickets are $5.00
each, so buy as many as you can to help support the club. Tickets will be
available to purchase at the picnic.
We have many other great
prizes that we will be raffling off at the picnic so be sure to attend.
If you are planning on
attending the picnic we are asking people with last names beginning with A
through P to please bring a Salad. People with last names beginning with Q
through Z please bring a Dessert.
The annual picnic is one of
two main fund raisers for the club, the other being our Annual Banquet
Awards Dinner. I can't stress enough how important it is to have your
support at these events. We have many great plans for our range and
without these fund raisers we can't move forward and make the improvements
that we all would like to see at the range. So please support our club by
buying tickets for the main prize and by attending the picnic and enjoying
the company of others who support the cause that you find important, the
El Dorado Rod & Gun Club.
Hope to see you August 5, at
High Hill Ranch for an enjoyable time. For more information go to our web
site @

Picnic 2006 |
The
P.L.I.N.K. Report:
May 26 PLINK Volunteers mostly from our El Dorado Rod
& Gun Club and an unattached family of copy cats took apart a 30 foot
fifth wheel house trailer that had been dumped in our Eldorado National
Forest. They gathered so much other filth that it would not fit in
our five pickup trucks that went to the dump. None of this stuff had
any thing to do with legitimate target shooting, but since it had been
riddled by illegal shooting on a road, gun owners in general were being
blamed for it. We can actually hit things smaller
than freezers, washers, etc.

June 16 we went back. Without Doug Becker it took Teresa
Riesenhuber driving a big U.S. Forest Service stake side to get the rest
of the junk. Much of it was metal that anyone can dump for free, but
the Forest Service dump bill was $102. It took a five person Fire Engine
Crew to unload it. We also took care of the shooting area formerly
blocked by a big mud puddle.

The folks that are making all of us look good are; Doug
Becker, Paul Lockyer, Al Morrow, David Hawkins, Gary Stone, Si Russell, Ed
Dunn, Ray Engler, Tim Guth, D.J. Guth, Carol, Randy, & Dane Kolbo,
Bill George, Jake Erlich, Terry Bush, Michael Eribes de Flores, Dan Mc
Mahon, Tom Bullock III, Scott Fechner, Richard Maynard, Stan Cartwright,
Marian Genir, and Donn Niblett who taught his 15 year old Grandson
Eric from North Hollywood what happens when he comes to visit.
NEXT Please Leave It NRA Klean outing starts 9 AM SUNDAY
JULY 16 from the Pollock Pines Safeway parking lot heading for a special
mess off of Omo Ranch Road. Please RSVP Steve
